Fiona Farrell, new head of Human Resource ServicesA Gender & Diversity (G&D) Advisory Committee has been created to further strengthen IRRI’s programs and activities promoting G&D. "The committee will guide and support the Human Resource Services (HRS) as the focal point for implementing IRRI’s approved G&D Plan," HRS Head Fiona Farrell said. Ms. Farrell will head the committee.

Specifically, the committee will be responsible for providing advice on G&D strategies, priorities, and policies; overseeing the promotion of equal opportunity in policies, procedures and practices, particularly in recruitment, retention, and advancement of women and staff from Part II countries; ensuring that lessons are learned and that informed changes are supported and incorporated in the program; and mobilizing support for the G&D program.

The committee members will also serve as IRRI’s gender and diversity associates (GDAs). They are the following: Director for Management Services Norman Macdonald, Grain Quality, Nutrition, and Postharvest Center Head Melissa Fitzgerald, Financial Operations Unit Manager Lisa Panes, Gender Specialist Thelma Paris, Scientist (Plant Breeding) Rakesh Kumar Singh, Scientist (Plant Biotechnology) Inez Hortense Slamet-Loedin, Associate Scientist Renato Reaño, Senior Manager Corinta Guerta, Community and Employee Relations (CERS) Manager Charina G. Ocampo, and CERS Specialist (Information Services) Johnny F. Goloyugo
representing the IRRI Filipino Employees Association (IFEA).

Ms. Ocampo will serve as the Human Resources lead person and the Institute’s G &D point person.
