Sunday, July 01, 2001 Farmers learn new rice research technologies Dr. Casiana Vera Cruz (left), a scientist at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), explains to a group of farmers in Laguna the agricultural and economic implications of biotechnology in rice research and development. IRRI is objectively evaluating the new strategies and options that biotechnology may offer the rice industry and is collaborating with its partners in the national agricultural research systems of rice producing nations to see if such strategies are suitable and sustainable in different countries. The Municipal Agriculture Office of Bay, Laguna Province, organized the farmers’ educational seminar on new rice research technologies. |
